Bollywood has produced so many superstars; in late 1960s and 1970s Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor were ruling the Hindi film industry - they were considered the biggest stars of Bollywood. People used to relate to them, and worship them like Gods. Among the heroines Nargis, Meena Kumari, Madhubala and Nutan were the top ones. Posters of these heroines were all over the place. These heroines were loved by mass audiences. People were crazy about them.
There was a change in the theme of Bollywood movies in late 1970s, Film makers started to produce romantic and action packed films, and with the change new hero and heroines were introduced. Rajesh Khanna, known as Kaka Babu, and Dharmendra were considered chocolate heroes; Dharmendra in particular was considered the most handsome of faces of Bollywood, and used to star in most of the romantic Hindi movies. Amitabh Bacchan was considered the angry young man of Bollywood movies. Heroines that matched these superstars were Hema Malini, Jaya Bacchan, Rekha and Jai Mala.
Super stars of early 1990s were Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Mithun Chakarborty and once again Amitabh Bacchan; the heroines were Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawala and Meenakshi.
